Every believer has a calling on their life. Our first and foremost calling is to bring glory to God. Following this, we have individual callings that give our lives unique meaning. Today’s post is for those who have chosen to acknowledge the call of being a peacemaker.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Matthew 5:9 NIV
It takes true humility to adopt the heart of a peacemaker. This calling is an invitation available to every believer and it involves a realization that you have been made “an ambassador who comes to bring peace” (AMG’s Annotated Strong’s Greek Dictionary of the New Testament). What makes this call unique to each believer is the method and/or location in which your peacemaking abilities must be exhibited. Perhaps you are called to social media, the classroom, or a courtroom. Wherever you are called, your focus is expected to be the same – exhibit the love of Christ in the face of difficulty and opposition. This is at the heart of peacemaking.
Being considered “children of God” is no small accolade. Instead, it is representative of a life lived completely dedicated to God. How many of us can say that we do this? Are we certain we understand the cost of such an undertaking?
And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.
James 3:18 NLT
We are known as peacemakers when we act with confidence in the Lord, bringing His word to a dying world. The same is true when we choose to speak a word in love rather than frustration during a conversation. Big or small, our actions have the potential to change the lives of others as well as the atmosphere surrounding us.
Reaping a harvest of righteousness requires seeds to be planted in good soil. Discernment is necessary in order to identify the appropriate use and location of the seeds one possesses. Being prayerful is the best way to navigate this.
I hope today’s post inspires you to pray and seek God concerning your expression of peacemaking as it pertains to your specific calling.
Until next time,
Be blessed and remain well.
