All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.
Isaiah 53:6 NLT
I woke up to this verse following a day when I made a poor decision. I felt the pull of conviction that was mixed with grace and mercy, which left my heart at ease and in agreement with God. Like this verse states, I strayed from the path God gave me in Christ. Yet, in His Sovereign lovingkindness, God accounted for every transgression through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.
I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.
Romans 7:19 NLT
It can be difficult to stay the course with God sometimes. During these moments, it is incredibly important to remain close to God in prayer and repentance. God is a loving, gracious Father who has sympathy regarding the pains of His children. God knows when, where and how we will sin before we find ourselves in compromising situations. He makes a way out of each of them and is ready and willing to strengthen us in times of weakness (James 1:13-15; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Corinthians 12:9).
Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.
2 Corinthians 7:1 NLT
Rather than feeling tormented by my sinful decision, I felt peace knowing that I placed myself in God’s hands and trusted Him to help me in my transgression. Instead, I was empowered to keep my eyes on God and to remain focused on living a life that is pleasing to Him. My hope for you is that, whenever you find yourself in a similar situation that you will also choose to stick with God through it.
